Colorblind Collage Essentials

...learn the keys to making a realistic fabric collage.

There are many free tutorials online showing you how to make a fabric collage from a photo, but it's difficult to find a course that shows you how to create a sense of depth and reality with fabric in a way that beautifully captures the spirit of your subject while you learn how to make the collage.

This course fills that gap by teaching you both the method and the skills that are essential for creating a sense of depth and realism in a fabric collage.

In the world of painting, these skills help you paint realism on a blank canvas. In the fabric collage world, they help you portray realism in fabric

FAQ

  • When does the course start and end?

You can start Colorblind Collage Essentials as soon as you purchase and register for the course. Your access expires in six (6) months, giving you plenty of time to complete the mini-course.

  • Is this a new fabric collage method?

The course teaches you a set of skills that you can apply to just about any method of fabric collage. In the process, you will learn a popular method using Steam-a-Seam lite 2.

  • I need the basics, is this too advanced for a beginner?

No, quite the opposite. I designed the course for those with little training. So, whether you are yet to make your first collage or you have already made a few, the course is for you, especially if you want to make a realistic looking collage from a photo.

  • I am experienced in fabric collage. Will I learn something new?

I can't guarantee you will learn something new, but if you are unsure what it means to see like an artist, this could very well elevate your skills to a new level.

  • Is this about making a black and white collage?

No, the course title refers to the idea that if you were totally colour-blind, you would see the world without any colour. And this is precisely the perspective you need to capture and convey depth and dimension in a fabric collage.

  • What supplies do I need?

If you have done any quilting, there is a good chance you have almost everything you need. The third lesson uses Steam-a-Seam Lite 2 but you could substitute pins and/or a glue stick.

  • What makes this different from other fabric collage courses?

Have you heard the saying, "Learn the rules so you can break them"? Colorblind Collage Essentials is an example of this. Once you learn the skills, you can let them infuse your work as you have a fun time using your fabrics in a new way to create an amazing collage based on a photo.

Instructor Bio:

Anne has been making pet portraits since the fateful day she snapped a photo of her Jack Russell Terrier in 2015 and made a simple portrait from the photo. When the dog started barking at the portrait, she knew she was on to something. Quilting had never been that fun!

Since then, she has taught students from age 10 to 80 with a wide range of abilities to make portraits of their own from photos of their favorite four-legged or feathered friends.

Anne's portraits have wide appeal and have been juried in to Fine Art and Quilt shows. Today, she looks forward to every minute she's creating fabric collage animal portraits and teaching others how to create their own artful pet portraits.
